You've Got Jail! Thanks to Crime Stoppers tips!

Rosemary Lorraine Borges - 65, was blind and walked with a cane. She was found dead in a field on South Congress Avenue on October 4th, 2011. A crime stoppers tip led police to 22- year old Billy Ray Byers, who apparently knew Mrs. Borges and followed her from a neighborhood party on Saturday night. Byers, who has previous convictions for theft and burglary, was charged with murder. A senseless act of murder, seemingly with no motive, this is a dangerous criminal that would still be on the streets if not for a citizen who used our anonymous tips line to give valuable crime-solving information.

On September 19th, 2011, an 84 –year old woman was the victim of a violent purse snatching in a parking lot. A security camera in the 41st Street Sears store parking lot caught the attack on video. The tape shows the woman being pulled three feet into the air and then slammed to the ground as the purse is ripped away. When the video was released and featured on KVUE’s crime of the week on September 26th, an anonymous tip identified the suspect. The information led police to Willie Sauls who was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
