Congratulations Austin!  This year Capital Area Crime Stoppers is marking 30 years fighting crime in Austin and Travis County.  That’s over a quarter of a century of fighting crime right here in our community.  Crime Stoppers continues to be successful because it’s a grassroots citizen action program.  We give you the power to keep your community safer by partnering with local law enforcement and the media – all working together to solve serious felony crime.  Crime Stoppers has created a formula that works – thanks to you. These crimes might go unsolved and dangerous criminals go free if not for citizens, like you, calling in valuable crime-solving information.  And what if you don’t have any crime-solving tips?  You can help by giving a tax-deductible contribution that allows us to operate the program as well as to continue to pay cash rewards.

For 30 years, Crime Stoppers has been assisting local law enforcement in getting and keeping criminals off our streets.  Crime Stoppers tips have led to over 7,200 arrests cleared almost 10,000 cases and paid out almost $980,000 in cash rewards to citizens.  We’re hoping to hit the 1 million mark in cash rewards paid out to citizens this year for their crime solving tips.

Our annual Fight Back Austin event on KVUE Austin starts Thursday, April 22 and continues through Sunday, April 25th.   On these days, watch KVUE Austin to find out how Crime Stoppers is working for you.  You’ll see how successful the program is, how we do and some exciting interviews.  On Sunday, April 25th, look in your Austin American Statesman and find out you can get involved in the fight against crime in your community.

Sign up now for the 9th annual Mulligans for Mike Memorial Golf Classic on Saturday, May 15th at Lions Municipal Golf Course.  Last year this tournament raised over $10,000 for several organizations such as Crime Stoppers and Safe Place. This charity tournament celebrates the live of Mike Adelman, who was tragically murdered in October of 2000. Through the efforts of Crime Stoppers and law enforcement, Mike’s killer was apprehended and convicted.  Mike’s family and friends honor his life by hosting this tournament and donating the proceeds to organizations that have been important in their lives. We hope you will join us in a great day of golf and help your community at the same time.
