Recent Cases Cleared Through Capital Area Crime Stoppers.

Stephen Lane was working in a convenience store in 1997 when a robber shot him in the head - 3 times.  Two years and four operations later, Steve says he just wants to keep working and pay for his son's college education.  He lives with the daily headaches and occasional blurriness, but at least now he knows that the men who did this are behind bars.  This crime might have gone unsolved if not for the Capital Area Crime Stoppers tip received in January of this year.  The tip lead police to charge Joseph Arispe, 31, with attempted capital murder.  Police also charged Brian Benford, 26, with attempted capital murder in the shooting after Arispe told them Benford drove the getaway car.  Arispe and Benford were also charged in a series of robberies.  They are both in jail awaiting a pretrial hearing.  Glenda Lane, Steve's ex-wife never dreamed when she joined the board of Capital Area Crime Stoppers, that it would ultimately make such a difference to her own family.

Information received on the Capital Area Crime Stoppers tip hotline lead police to Archie Lee Davis, who was wanted for parole violation.  The anonymous informant directed Travis County S.W.A.T. Officers to a house where they took Davis into custody.  Davis' original charge was indecency with a child and failing to comply with state mandate and register as a sex offender.  At the time of arrest, Davis was in the company of 2 small girls.
