Austin Crime Stoppers

The Capital Area Crime Stoppers program is a non-profit organization that is managed by a group of citizens in Austin, Texas.

The mission of Capital Area Crime Stoppers is to assist local law-enforcement by generating community involvement in order to help solve serious crimes. The program offers cash rewards and anonymity to citizens who use the Crime Stoppers hotline to report criminal activity. If the tip leads to an arrest, the caller may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

The citizens of Austin, the local media and several law-enforcement agencies have made the community safer by participating in this program. The examples provided below show how tips from the community and stories provided by the media, especially KVUE and the Austin American Statesman, have made this community safer in 2014.
